Janet Fish - Prints

Janet Fish is known for her long career painting realistic everyday objects-fruits, flowers, glassware, domestic tablescapes.

Her mantra has been “painting is an act of gesture and color".

Her career began when many women were more interested in “feminist “ work and activist ideas.

Janet persisted in painting realist moments of home, a bailiwick for women, and in so doing, she revitalized the still life genre.

Many of her paintings include “elements of transparency - plastic wrap, water, reflected light.

At first glance these might be simple still lives, but the relationship of light to objects are complex.

Janet has created many prints with Stewart& Stewart.
